Another one

Among the orphan blocks were four large diamond sections, leftovers from Lone Star quilts. You can see two of them on the upper right in the photo below. They were the starting point for my next  scrap quilt.

And by evening it was not only laid out (rectangular setting this time), but mostly sewed together. Assembly went quickly, but it lacked about sixteen inches being long enough for a twin. I added two leftover diagonal strips & made six Lucky Stars trimmed to ten inches.

The Lucky Stars pattern makes a “floating” star that is supposed to be trimmed to 9 1/2 in. There are no points to match or get cut off at the edges. It’s one of my favorite patterns for quick stars. For this quilt rather than adding coping strips, I trimmed the stars at 10 in. to get a bit more width.
