Slightly Fishy

In the process of updating my website, which is long overdue, , I added a Gallery page to show some of my award-winning quilts.  (htttp://northlandquilter.com) Why not tell their stories here?

Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting magazine presented a 2004 challenge: make a miniature of a bed-sized quilt which had appeared in the magazine during previous two years. My choice: Something Fishy bed quilt, July/August 2002

With Quilt-Pro I used the pattern called “Nested Triangles” to form the two-inch square fish (finished size). The small fish were paper-pieced.

“Slightly Fishy” is machine quilted on my Bernina with wavy lines to simulate water in the body of the quilt and wave designs in the border. The large fish shape is outlined by stitching in the ditch.

It did not win a prize among more than a hundred entries received. However, our State Fair judges deemed it worthy of a first place blue ribbon AND Division Champion!
